Results Social and academic function constituted fairly independentdimensions. Cluster analysis identifiedgroups varying both in level and course.Patientswith a stable social course comparedwith a deteriorating one had a shorterduration of untreatedpsychosis, were older, had more friends and less negative symptoms. Good childhood academic function correlatedwithmore education, more meaningful activities andbetter working memory.Patientswith a stable academic coursewere older at admission.
